Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

Everyone is Welcome

Everyone should feel welcome and deserving of a place in their community. I am passionate about equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) work. As a community member, I have served on the Town of Cobourg's Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee since its establishment in early 2021 until its conclusion before the start of the municipal election.

My dedication to local community advocacy has led me to take on important roles, such as the Chapter Leader of the local PFLAG Chapter and the co-founder of the Cobourg Queer Collective. In these capacities, I have organized Pride events and activities during Pride Month, including fundraising events, marches, and advocating for 2SLGBTQIA+ rights through local social media and community page platforms.

I have been involved in 2SLGBTQIA+ activism and education work in Northumberland for almost a decade. I have been invited to deliver public speaking events, presentations and webinars, written guest articles, and participated in media interviews (radio and podcast ) on rural queer representation and other human rights issues. As a skilled relationship builder and community educator with a background in organizing and representing small social justice organizations from an anti-racist and anti-oppressive framework, I am confident that I can significantly advance equity, diversity, and inclusion across various sectors.

By embracing EDI, we can build stronger, more inclusive communities where everyone can thrive and contribute their unique perspectives and talents.
